SOPHOMORE YEAR | MGSA, RUTGERS UNIVERSITY, NJ
The following is a curated timeline of the original art I produced in response to the September 11th attacks on New York City and the United States. At the time I was pursuing my degree in graphic design at Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University. Like many Americans, our sense of security and awareness of the world shifted dramatically that day. We gained a renewed sense of patriotism, one that the younger generation (myself included) never experienced before. The attacks affected me greatly living in the New York City metro area as a young adult entering the 'real' world. I turned to my art to document and process the events of 9/11 and the weeks and months after. All of the following drawings, sketches, photographs and objects were part of my life or were created from 2001 to 2002. I could have never imagined that I would be a blood donor instead of heading to Graphic Design class that morning. Below is my original donor card that marks that Tuesday morning in September, a day none of us could ever have imagined.
